Africa at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2015

Yet again another amazing turn out at the WTM this year in ExCeL Exhibition Centre London.

At the WTM there were various seminars to wet our taste buds for the travel business, which is becoming more successful each year. Seminars included 'Responsible Tourism', 'How to Collaborate with Bloggers', 'Travel Start Up Pitches' etc.  There was also a wealth of opportunities before, during and after the WTM to network with other travel/tourism providers, which is a major part of the event.

2016 will be a new year for Africa to get back into business, as they recover from a bad season in 2015 with low tourism.  Even though most African countries were not directly affected by Ebola the ongoing negative media coverage of the Ebola crisis has had a vast impact on tourism in Africa as a continent.

Vibrant cultural displays from African Countries such as Uganda; South Africa; Malawi; Kenya; Nigeria; Botswana; Gambia; Senegal; and others were well exhibited.  It is forecasted that Africa will have the second highest growth rate in the world to 2030 and eight African countries are included in the 20 fastest growing economies worldwide.

Yet again Gambia's presence was felt in full force led by Momodou Joof,  as they discussed the richness which Gambia has to offer tourism.  'Rave about Africa' who also work in partnership with Momodou Joof were in attendance to highlight Gambia's rich culture and to also promote the 2016 Gambia Roots Festival by networking with traders and visitors at the World Travel Market 2015.
